5. In December, all 8th graders brought home a letter outlining the end of year activities and ceremonies. This letter will be attached to our website today so parents can have a reminder of end of year dates. Here is a quick synopsis of important 8th grade dates:

Honors Breakfast
The Honors Breakfast will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 7:00 am in the gym. Invitations will be sent to the parents of students who have been on either the high or regular honor roll for the first three quarters of the year.

8th Grade Dance
There will be an 8th grade dance on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 from 6-8 pm. This is not a formal dance or a date dance. Only Granger 8th graders are eligible to attend. Dress code is dressy/casual. Please keep in mind that we want to keep this casual. We are not encouraging formal or prom style dresses.

8th Grade Picnic
On Wednesday, May 30, 2012, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, 8th grade students will enjoy a picnic outside sponsored by the Granger PTSA. Thanks to the generosity of the PTSA and a hard-working group of parents, food and games will be provided.

Promotion Ceremony
The Promotion Ceremony for 8th graders will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2012 from 9:30 to 10:30am. All three 8th grade teams will participate in the end of the year ceremony where all students are honored before they move on to high school. Parents are welcome to attend this recognition event. Students will receive certificates of achievement indicating that they have successfully completed middle school and will be promoted to the high school. Because we feel it is important that the whole 8th grade class be together for this ceremony, we are holding only one ceremony for the entire class. Because of this, I would ask that each family limit themselves to four guests at this ceremony.
