Granger Middle School

Indian Prairie School District 204

Granger News

Reported by on 8/16/17

Parents should call the school attendance line (630-375-3412) by 8:30 am on each day their child will be absent or late to school. An answering machine is always on so absence calls can be made and recorded any time of day. If the school is not contacted by 8:30 am, a parent will be called. If we are unable to speak to a parent, the absence will be unexcused. Parents should refer to the district handbook with any questions about absences.

First period starts when the bell rings at 8 am. Students not in their seat at this time will be marked absent. Students who arrive to class after 8 am (or 8:20 am on late start Wednesdays) are considered tardy. Any student arriving to school after the 1st bell is to report to the guidance office to be issued a pass to class. No student will be admitted to class without a pass. Tardies to class interrupt teaching and a student having 3 or more unexcused tardies to school will be given a detention each time the student is late. Should a bus arrive late, students will be given a pass to class and are not considered tardy.

Parents are required to write a note if their child will leave school early. The note should indicate name, time, date, and the reason. The students should bring the note to the main office before school starts and he/she will be given an early dismissal pass. The student is responsible for bringing the note to the main office. Your child will be issued the appropriate pass that will dismiss him/her from class. The student will show the pass to the teacher. The office does not call them out of class. This pass allows the student to be dismissed from class without interruption and they will be awaiting for you at the main door. All students must be signed out at the front desk.

Once again for the 2017-18 school year, District 204 is adjusting the starting time for students on Wednesday mornings. This will provide an opportunity for school-wide professional development for our teachers. On Wednesdays students will attend from 8:20 am until 3:00 pm. Morning bus schedules will be adjusted on Wednesdays by approximately 20 minutes. Please note that students cannot access the building until 7:40 am on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 8:00 am on Wednesday unless they are participating in a school sponsored event with supervision by a staff member.
