Season’s Greetings from the Granger PTSA

Reported by on 11/28/17

The PTSA has been busy partnering with the Granger staff and students to enhance the Granger Experience for all students.

This month, we approved teacher grants that will allow teachers to purchase enrichment materials for all students. Here are just a few of the grants that have been approved.

Our students in the PACE classrooms will be receiving kitchen supplies to provide those students with the opportunity to prepare snacks as part of their curriculum.
The special education team will be receiving new reading materials and audio books to encourage the students’ love of reading.
The Cricket Club will be receiving funds to purchase wickets. The club has been using recycle bins as wickets for the past two years.

The PTSA is able to provide these grants due to the generosity of our Granger community through donations, PTSA memberships, and concession and apparel sales. With your support, we will be able to provide additional grants in the spring.

Gift Card Orders:

The Granger PTSA has partnered with Scrip to provide gift cards to our Granger Families and Friends. Attached is an order form that includes a list of gift cards available this year. You will notice a % next to each gift card. This is the percentage, of each gift card sold, that the vendor provides to the PTSA. So, now is the time to stock up for your holiday gift giving or even on cards for those stores/restaurants (Jewel, Walgreens, Mariano’s, etc.) that you utilize throughout the year. When placing your order, please complete form and attach a check, payable to Granger PTSA, and turn into the school office. All orders and payments are due by December 7th. Gift cards will be delivered to your student, please include your student’s name on form, on December 15th. (If you prefer to pick up the gift cards at school, just note that on your order form.) Please contact Jenn Lester at with any questions that you might have.

Frosty’s Friends:

Once again, the PTSA is sponsoring a giving program to help make the holidays a little happier for families in our community. This year, we are collecting gift cards for Granger families in need within District 204. Please help Frosty’s Friends make the holidays a little happier for these families by donating a gift card that reflects the holiday wishes of our recipients and their families.

Students may select mittens (1 or 2), during their lunch periods on December 1st through 7th. Permission slips are required and are attached to this Listserv and available in the school office.

Gift cards for donation can be ordered through the school Scrip program for delivery directly to the Frosty’s Friends Committee. No running around required! An order form will be attached to the mitten for your convenience.

If you have any questions or would like to volunteer to help with this committee and distribute mitten during the lunch periods, please contact Carrie Baffes at (630)978-8733 or via email at . Thank you for helping make the holidays brighter for those in need!!!

Executive Board 2018-19 School Year:

As we head into 2018, we need to focus on building a PTSA executive board for the upcoming school year. An immediate need for the upcoming school year will be the position of PTSA treasurer. Our current treasurer is the parent of an 8th grader and will be leaving at the end of the year. If you are interested in the position of treasurer, please contact a member of the PTSA executive board to learn about the role. If you are thinking about a way to get involved, the PTSA offers many opportunities to volunteer as much or as little as you desire.
