Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year. My name is Laurie Fiorenza, Principal of  Granger Middle School. I am so honored to serve our students, teachers, parents, and the Indian Prairie community in this role! It is a privilege to join Granger Middle School and the long standing tradition of excellence and dedication well-known throughout the educational community.

I come to Granger Middle School having attended Quincy University and earned a Master of Science in Education and an Administrative Endorsement. I spent eight years of my educational career in Quincy, Illinois primarily concentrating on literacy instruction as a high school self-contained literacy teacher, a reading interventionist, and as an after-school Program Director.

I have also served as the Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction at both Quincy Junior High School and Rotolo Middle School.  On a more personal note, I have three very active children. My daughter is twenty-one, and a senior at the University of South Alabama. My two sons are sixteen and thirteen. In my free time, I enjoy reading, walking, shopping, and spending time with my family and friends.

Middle level education is an important time in the lives of our students. Growth over this time is simply astounding. Strong partnerships are essential to this journey; helping our students grow both academically and socially. It is important that all of our students be successful and ready to meet the demands of life after middle school. As we begin our journey together, striving to achieve our goals, I encourage close communication between home and school.  Children encounter more success when surrounded by caring adults who understand, cooperate with, and support one another. Have a wonderful 2017-2018 school year!

I am very excited for this school year! This is my 7th year as an administrator and my 12th year in education. Previously, I was a 6th grade math teacher and coached Cross Country and Track. I have had the pleasure of spending my entire educational career at Granger Middle School, so I bleed navy and yellow! Granger is a special place so I look forward to making the middle school experience here a memorable one for all of our students, parents and staff.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you are new to Granger Middle School. If you have had children who have previously attended Granger please continue to stay involved. Parents and educators play a vital role in developing well-rounded young men and women and we look forward to working with all of our families.

Welcome to Granger Middle School!  The 2018-2019 school year marks my 6th year as Assistant Principal at Granger Middle School, and my 16th year in education.  Prior to coming to District 204 I worked for East Aurora School District 131 as a teacher, Dean of Students, and Assistant Principal.  As a teacher I taught courses in Freshmen English and Reading Intervention.  In addition to teaching I also coached varsity track and football.

Being a father and educator, I am reminded every day of the awesome responsibility we have to positively impact the lives of our students. This is why I am proud to work amongst teachers who create educational opportunities that allow students to feel valued, successful, and challenged. Accomplishing this requires a team effort and here at Granger Middle School we love the opportunity to collaborate with parents. I look forward to working with you as we make the 2018-2019 the best year yet!
