Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year. My name is Laurie Fiorenza, and I was recently appointed Principal of Granger Middle School. I am so honored to serve our students, teachers, parents, and the Indian Prairie community in this role! It is a privilege to join Granger Middle School and the long standing tradition of excellence and dedication well-known throughout the educational community.
I come to Granger Middle School having attended Quincy University and earned a Master of Science in Education and an Administrative Endorsement. I spent eight years of my educational career in Quincy, Illinois primarily concentrating on literacy instruction as a high school self-contained literacy teacher, a reading interventionist, and as an after-school Program Director.
I also served as the Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction for Quincy Junior High School. For the past two years I have served as the Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Instruction for Rotolo Middle School in Batavia, IL. On a more personal note, I have three very active children. My daughter is nineteen, and a sophomore at the University of South Alabama. My two sons are fourteen and eleven. In my free time, I enjoy reading, walking, shopping, and spending time with my family and friends.
Middle level education is an important time in the lives of our students. Growth over this time is simply astounding. Strong partnerships are essential to this journey; helping our students grow both academically and socially. It is important that all of our students be successful and ready to meet the demands of life after middle school. As we begin our journey together, striving to achieve our goals, I encourage close communication between home and school. Children encounter more succes when surrounded by caring adults who understand, cooperate with, and support one another. Have a wonderful 2016-2017 school year!
ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL: NICK HURD
I am very excited for this school year! This is my 5th year as an administrator and my 10th year in education. Previously, I was a 6th grade math teacher and coached Cross Country and Track. I have had the pleasure of spending my entire educational career at Granger Middle School, so I bleed navy and yellow! Granger is a special place so I look forward to making the middle school experience here a memorable one for all of our students, parents and staff.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you are new to Granger Middle School. If you have had children who have previously attended Granger please continue to stay involved. Parents and educators play a vital role in developing well-rounded young men and women and we look forward to working with all of our families.
ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL: TIMOTHY LOWE
My Name is Tim Lowe. This is my third year as Assistant Principal at Granger Middle School. Before coming to Granger I was an Assistant Principal and Dean of Students for 4 years in East Aurora School District 131. Before I became an administrator I taught Language Arts, and Read 180. I also coached both Varsity Football and Track. I feel very lucky to work at Granger Middle School. Granger is an amazing place to come to work every day. Granger students come to us with unlimited potential and talents. Our staff members are highly qualified and are constantly challenging themselves and our students to get the best.
My personal belief as an administrator is that it is my job to ensure teachers can teach and students can learn. Therefore, I believe there is no job too big, or question too small that does not deserve my attention. As an administration we believe that collaboration between parents, teachers, and students is essential for success. I strongly encourage you to get involved in the amazing things that are happening here at Granger.
