The National PTA Reflections Program "The Magic of a Moment…"
Due: October 19, 2012
The Reflections art contest is a national program program sponsored by PTA since 1969, when Colorado's PTA president Mary Lou Anderson developed the first Reflections program to encourage students to explore their talents ans express themselves by giving positive recognition for their artistic efforts. The program is designed to enhance quality arts education for students in Pre-K through grade 12. As participants in the program, students are encouraged to create works in the followin art categories:
Students may enter in any of the six categories ans may enter as many times as they wish. They may take photos, paint or draw pictures, write songs, sonnets, poems, plays or short stories, dance and video.
Students submit artwork to Local PTA's. Works are judged by local PTA's and the winning entries advance to the Council, District and State PTA round. Top entries from each State PTA Reflections contest advance to National PTA for the final round of judging.
This year we have a new Specia Artist Division! Previously, they were four traditional grade divisions for the National student competition:
*Primary: Preschool-grade 2
*Middle: Grades 6-8
*High School: Grades 9-12
The Special Arts Division is a non-graded division limited to students whose physical, cognitive or mental health challenges meet the guidelines det forth in the American Disabilities Act. The students can create their own artwork but may receive non-artistic accommodation and assistance from an adult. Also the students may choose to enter in the traditional four grade division.
You can get the Reflections Art contest entry form and rules for each category at the School's website or the PTA website (www.pta.org/reflections) Please read these requirements very carefully, so that your child's artwork will not be disqualified. Materials and measurements must be exacts!. An entry form is also available at the School's office and must be filled out completely and attached to your child's entry in a sheet protector. Please submit CD's in a ziploc bag labeled with the studen's name. Also, please be sure to complete the artist's statement, as this is considered in the judging. Ensure that each entry form has the parent's signature and phone number.
Every student who participates in the Reflections Art Contest will receive a participation ribbon, a diploma and we will have a breakfast celebration to honor them.
All completed projects are due on OCTOBER 19th, and remember, this year's theme is "The Magic of a Moment..". We are excited to show the creativity of our Granger students!. We look forward to receiving an entry form for everyone.Any questions please feel free to contact : firstname.lastname@example.org
