PRINCIPAL: ALLAN DAVENPORT
Hello Granger Grizzly Families! I am so excited to be part of the Granger family! I attended Eastern Illinois University for both my undergrad as well as my Masters. While in graduate school I received the “Distinguished Graduate Student Award” for the Educational Administration Program! In 1997 I started my teaching career in Olney, Illinois in the East Richland Community School District #1 where I taught 7th and 8th Grade English/Language Arts, Social Studies and occasionally Physical Education. I was also the Head High School Soccer Coach. During my time in East Richland I received the Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year Award in 2001 and the East Richland Foundation for Academic Excellence Teacher of the Year Award in 2002!
In 2004 I moved to Thayer J. Hill Middle School in 204 to serve as the Assistant Principal. Three years later I moved into the Principal role at Hill and served as Principal from 2007-2010. During the summer of 2010 I moved to Crone Middle School in 204 where I also served as Principal until 2015. After 5 years at Crone, I accepted the position of Director of Innovation & Instructional Leadership with District 204. During my time at the district office I led the district’s digital 1:1 transformation with Chromebooks as well as lead parent and student education around Digital Citizenship. Additionally, I oversaw all 31 of the district’s librarians and libraries. Furthermore, I have spent the last 4 years providing staff development to teachers and principals within the district as it relates to innovative teaching practices!
When the opportunity became available, I just knew I had to become a building principal again! I belong in a school working with students, teachers and families and I am so excited to be the Principal at Granger Middle School!

Hello and welcome to the 2020-2021 school year!
I am very proud to be continuing as a Granger Grizzly for the second year. I have always wanted to be an educator. As a child I "taught" my younger siblings in my self-made basement classroom and saved my money to purchase a chalkboard and retired school textbooks. My desire to become a teacher ultimately led to earning my undergraduate degree in education from Eastern Illinois University and my graduate degree in Leadership and Administration from North Central College.
I started in District 204 in 1998 so I have had the pleasure of watching the district grow and change. With growth comes new opportunities, which I have taken advantage of from time to time. I spent my first three years at Gregory Middle School as a 7th grade science teacher. In 2001, I helped open Scullen Middle School and continued to teach 7th grade science. In 2003, my husband and I were blessed with twin boys. At this time we made the decision to put my career in education on hold to assume the huge responsibility of being a new mom. After five years, I returned to education and Gregory Middle School as a 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Project Arrow science teacher. Most recently I have served as Student Services Coordinator at Welch Elementary School. During this time I managed special education and Section 504 services, the Pupil Personnel Services team, Project Arrow and Math Acceleration testing and qualification, and many additional responsibilities. I am excited to bring my diverse experiences to Granger Middle School and contribute to its reputation as a well established and high achieving school.

Welcome to Granger Middle School! The 2020-2021 school
year marks my 8th year as Assistant Principal at Granger Middle School, and my
18th year in education. Prior to coming to District 204 I
worked for East Aurora School District 131 as a teacher, Dean of Students, and
Assistant Principal. As a teacher I taught courses in Freshmen English
and Reading Intervention. In addition to teaching I also coached varsity
track and football.
Being a father and educator, I am reminded every day of the
awesome responsibility we have to positively impact the lives of our
students. This is why I am proud to work amongst teachers who create
educational opportunities that allow students to feel valued, successful, and
challenged. Accomplishing this requires a team effort and here at Granger
Middle School we love the opportunity to collaborate with parents. I look
forward to working with you as we make the 2020-2021 the best year yet!
